The Casey Scorpions Football Club is an Australian rules football club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club was founded in 1903 as the Springvale Football Club and played under the name Springvale. In its history it has won 21 premierships. In more recent years the club has played in the VFA/VFL and has won six premierships: 1983 (2nd Div), 1987, 1995, 1996, 1998 and 1999. Nevertheless, they were unable to survive in Springvale and have played in a number of different suburbs over the past ten years.

The club is now based at the VFL complex at Casey and plays home games at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East. To reflect their various moves the team was renamed from "Springvale Scorpions" to simply "Scorpions" and, in 2006, to their current name of the "Casey Scorpions". While playing as the Casey Scorpions the legal name of the club is still the Springvale Football Club Ltd and it retains an SFC monogram on its guernsey. From 2009, Casey is affiliated with the Melbourne Football Club after ending its affiliation with St Kilda.

2009–present

Peter German was appointed senior coach for 2009 leading the Scorpions to 6th spot on the ladder. However, they lost in the first week of the finals to Collingwood by 115 points. German was named VFL coach of the year while James Wall and Alex Silvagni were named in the team of the year.

Brad Gotch took over the reins as coach for 2010.[1] Casey started the season losing only one of their first 9 games, finishing 3rd overall losing just 4 games for the entire season but struggled in the finals missing key players through injury. The Scorpions lost the qualifying final against eventual premiers North Ballarat Roosters by 32 points and then to runners up Northern Bullants by 12 points the following week.

Brad Miller was awarded Casey best and fairest kicking 42 goals for the season including a ten goal haul against the Gold Coast Suns.[2]

On 8 March 2011, Casey signed troubled former Carlton and Brisbane AFL player Brendan Fevola.
